Samsung Galaxy S5 to have an eye scanning sensor
While fingerprint scanners are shaping up to be a trend this season, Samsung seems to be focusing on other parts of the human body to scan with its Galaxy S5. An eye-scanning sensor is reportedly in the works within the foundries of the South Korean mobile giant. This aspect will apparently be used for securely unlocking the device.
In the world of one-upmanship which the volatile smartphone segment is, anything that can be branded innovative seems to be catching the fancy of manufacturers. Not too long ago, Micromax had come up with its own crazy concept dubbed ‘blow to unlock’ which allows Canvas 4 owners to blow onto the phone in order to unlock it and was a successful thing.
Fingerprint scanners are being introduced by mobile phone manufacturers as higher security measures. But while Apple’s iPhone 5S featured a flaw which allowed users to bypass this restriction, HTC One Max too doesn’t seem to have implemented the trait in an appreciable manner, judging by some hands on videos that have hit the web.
A fingerprint scanner was reportedly also supposed to form part of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, but for some reason, it didn’t make it onto the final device. And now, with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S5 upon us, the company seems to have gotten over the concept, instead gunning for the eye sensor to go one up against its competition.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is slated to be launched in January next year, according to certain rumors. It will supposedly be equipped with a 5.5-inch full HD screen, a 64-bit processor and 4GB worth of RAM.
Another bit of information emerged, potentially shedding light on the specs of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5. Reportedly, the next generation of the popular smartphone will come with and eye-scanning sensor.
The above mentioned feature will give users the opportunity to unlock their smartphone with their eyes. Samsung is allegedly already hard at work on the high-security bit of tech, though there’s no word on how it is going to work.
Should the rumor pan out to be true, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will feature significantly higher-level security than the current crop of fingerprint sensor equipped device such as the iphone5s and the HTC one max. We do however, recommend that you take the news with a large grain of salt at this point in time.
